Reflection: More Selections
I used a free-hand lasso tool to select the terracotta soldier in the foreground.
This is a tapestry image - the whole image is my selection. I wanted to use the entire picture in my final postcard.
I used the magnetic lasso tool and made adjustments to the selection using the free-hand lasso tool. I added a 1 pixel feather as well.
I used the free-hand lasso tool to select the dragon costume.
Since we are on topic, I will continue to reflect on my postcard for the Lesson 4 assignment as well.
I added a sepia overtone to every layer. This came about mainly because my first image was the terracotta soldier. I thought it would look pleasing if everything had a similar hue to the soldier on the right-hand side.
The soldier and the dragon costume have a black gradient overlay which fades into transparency, which adds a slight shadowy effect on their edges. The terracotta soldier also has a drop shadow effect. The dragon costume has been slightly rotated.
The cockroach on the rice has a faint stroke.
The image in the background is the Great Wall. I added a colored pencil filter to it.
The two tapestry images are the same, one is just horizontally flipped to provide some differences. They both have a satin layer effect added to them.
I used two different types of font. The "Explore" was meant to be more stylistic while "China" was meant to be bold and stand out. I added a white stroke for reading clarity on the multi-colored background.
Using Adobe Bridge to batch rename: I didn't know how at first but it only took about 5 seconds of poking to figure it out. Open Adobe Bridge and then bring up the folder which has the images you want to rename. Select all four of those images and then right-click that selection and choose "Batch Rename" from the pop-out menu. It's pretty self-explanatory from here, but I choose "Text" to say TravelsStart, followed by a "Sequence Number" starting at 1 and using two digits (thus 01), followed by "Text" _NWright. So my first file would be named TravelsStart01_NWright.jpg.
